Diana Chavkin Fun Facts

Fun Facts About Me

  1. When I was in high school and I told my guidance counselor that I wanted to be a doctor she suggested that I try to pick a career that would allow me to prioritize being a mom and a wife. Well that really inspired me to be a doctor.

  2. When I was in college, I was a step aerobics instructor at Columbia. That was very popular in the 90’s for those of you who never heard of that kind of exercise. I no longer do step aerobics but I do still do lots of aerobic exercise and encourage my patients to do the same.  The exercise that is good for your heart and your lungs and all of the cells of your body is also good for your ovaries and eggs and uterus.

  3. I don’t like needles personally. And so when I was doing IVF I could not give myself the injections. I really do empathize with my patients who are also scared of needles. In fact many of my patients are more brave than I was in that department.

  4. All of my 3 kids are IVF babies and I absolutely would not have had my first child if I didn’t have to postpone treatment due to finding out that I had a uterine polyp. And so I am thankful all the time for that uterine polyp and often try to encourage my patients to try to see what they think are setbacks in the moment may actually be blessings in the long run. You never know in the moment how things will ultimately turn out.

  5. Prior to going to Medical school I was a math and science teacher for 8th grade in a NYC public school. Definitely the hardest job I ever had. Harder than being a doctor for sure.
